Dita de Wit

Dita de Wit

I, Dita de Wit, was born on November 18th 1963 in Groningen (Northern Netherlands). When I learned to read, I walked into a world that felt like home. A world that sucked me in, embraced me. A world that made room for conflicting feelings but also laughter and relaxation. I used to be very shy, whenever guests would come over, I would hide behind the couch. I preferred walking the dogs, bike for miles, strolling through meadows, jumping ditches, dreaming about the grown up life. Well, it seems so long ago. (those days are long gone)

Now, I am an adult and a working mum. I am happily married, the kids have flown out but two naughty dogs remained. We still live in Northern Netherlands. In 2000 I made my debut as a writer at publisher ‘de vier windstreken’, with the book: ‘De koning wil een kindje’. The fantasy of, and love for writing stayed. Thankfully I’m no longer shy. I am even a teacher now. Who would have thought? And we, my husband and I, love to go out, taking the dogs on holiday in a caravan, wandering through Europe. Okay, I’m no longer jumping ditches, but I’m still wandering.

In January I was cleaning out my closet and found this manuscript. The manuscript that Cindy and I wrote in years past. And now, now I hope, that this manuscript can offer some room to the conflicting feelings in children. That they experience, it is okay to feel this way and lets them know that even though they’re mad and sad the memory always stays. We hope knowing that, will give them and you some comfort.

Stay strong through these difficult times.

Cindy Forget

Hi, I’m Cindy. I am a French illustrator and designer who has lived in Barcelona for almost 15 years. I am from Normandy and after studying in Nantes and Lyon, I went to settle down in Spanish Catalonia.

Passionate about art and culture, attentive to our planet and as a two young children mother, I take a concerned look at the period we are experiencing and that beyond the more or less difficult trials that each one is in the process of to cross, a better future is being prepared.
